Mike Hankin is an artist, educator and founder of The Folk Union and OffBeat Folk Film Festival. His work explores contemporary ideas of Englishness and folk culture.
Working across painting, illustration, writing and publishing, he produces exhibitions, essays and small publications that examine how images of England are constructed. His recent publication, The Folk Union Handbook, sold out its first print run.
His work also extends into radio and public talks, and a series on the contemporary folk revival is currently in development.
He teaches design, culture and critical practice at the University of the Arts London.
